  The new national curriculum gradually being introduced in the Philippines since 2024 prioritizes improving academic performance in science, social studies, and mathematics. With music no longer offered as a standalone subject in Grades 1 to 3 of elementary school, there is growing demand for educational approaches that complement and strengthen the Competency-Based Curriculum’s goal of fostering holistic competencies. Through the introduction of Japanese-style music education, including the use of musical instruments, this project will contribute to students’ acquisition of 21st century skills.
