The University of Tsukuba is a research university with its origins in Tokyo Higher Normal School. It has 377 agreements with universities and research institutes in 67 countries and regions, contributing to solving global issues. The Center for Research on International Cooperation in Educational Development disseminates Japanese-style education, accepts and trains in-service teachers, and dispatches Japanese experts to meet local needs. In FY2021, the university was awarded acceptance of its proposal for the “Inter-University Exchange Project” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and grows leaders who are internationally active.
