Eighteen members of the Mexican non-government organization Innovative Leaders of Learning on a visit to Japan came on April 21, 2025 to the EDU-Port Japan Secretariat, where they exchanged opinions with the secretariat regarding the initiatives of EDU-Port Japan and the distinctive features of Japanese education.

Innovative Leaders of Learning is an organization comprising executives from a number of private educational institutions that manage pre-school, primary, secondary and higher education, business schools, robotics schools, universities, etc., in Mexico. The purpose of the organization’s activities is to learn from examples of advanced education in countries around the world and to develop and implement new teaching methods, in order to improve the quality of education in Mexico.

This visit to the Secretariat was made possible thanks to the Counsellor for Education, Science and Technology Cooperation for the Embassy of Mexico in Japan, who provided the organization with information about EDU-Port Japan; and on the day of the visit two members of staff from the Embassy’s Department in charge of Education, Science and Technology Cooperation also accompanied the party.

The EDU-Port Japan Secretariat provided a description of Japanese education using the pamphlet and the video , both carried on the EDU-Port website. In addition, an explanation was given of the initiatives by EDU-Port to spread Japan’s distinctive education to other countries and to introduce the ideas and knowledge gained there back into Japanese education.

The following comments were received from the Mexican counterparts.

・ It was very interesting to learn for the first time what education in Japan is like.
・ This was an opportunity to think about how we can improve education all over the world.
We were able to engage in a valuable exchange of information that will lead to cooperation between nations for the improvement of society and the building of peace.
・ I learned that Japanese education and culture is not just about imparting knowledge to students; it creates new ways of thinking of how to put that knowledge into practice.
・ We were able to learn a lot that will help us put our own ideas into practice in education in Mexico.
・ We want to build a solid relationship between EDU-Port and the educational institutions we manage in Mexico.
